In the busy-ness of our lives, it is a powerful act to “step out”, for a day or a few. Taking ourselves out of our habitual routines, we allow time and space for clear seeing and fresh understanding to emerge. Far from being an escape, retreat time invites us “step in” to our own experience with courage and commitment. We get closer to what is essential, peeling back unnecessary layers, inviting our intelligent, wise and loving selves to shine through.

Even one retreat a year can have a huge impact on our lives. This is a time for ourselves to nurture our deep unfolding in a supportive environment. We discover our own true sources of nourishment, inspiration, and genuine freedom. Over time, we will wish to return to this source more and more, and eventually we will find it wherever we are.

I draw on over 17 years of experience as a dedicated practitioner of meditation, including annual personal retreats ranging from 1 week - 3 months. I was invited to begin sharing my experience in 2012 and have been teaching regularly ever since. I bring together intensive training in traditional practices, modern neuroscientific research and understanding, trauma-informed embodiment practice, and all my own discoveries, trials, errors, and insights along the way. The intention is to offer genuinely transformative practices in ways that are accessible, grounded, joyful and empowering.

Ideally the ultimate retreat is to retreat from the past and the future, to always remain in the present. However our mind is so empowered and controlled by habit all the time.

One characteristic of habit is not being able to sit still, not being able to remain in the present. This is because being in the present is so scary, so boring and unbearable for our deluded and spoiled mind.
