Celebrating This Precious Life
Six Month Online Program: Honest Conversations About Death and Dying
Hosted by Wendy Haynes and Chani Grieve
Through honest, generous and inspired conversations and practices, with no set beliefs or agendas, we will talk about death, dying and what’s important to each of us. We will meditate, write, talk, listen, be quiet. We will play, be serious, research, discover and listen deeply to find out what’s alive in us. This is not a death doula training although some people are inspired to undertake further training in this field. This course is for everyone, young and old, in prime health or facing terminal illness – everyone is welcome.
Join us to reflect, research, discover and listen deeply to find out what’s alive in us; and learn from those who’ve gone before, many teachers on this path and the wonderful people who are part of these groups.

Embodied Listening Weekend Workshop
This workshop is for anyone wishing to bring deeper presence, connection, clarity and harmony into their communication and relationships with self and others. It is also for those who are motivated to bring these qualities into our communal, social, and societal spaces.
Through gentle guided movement, meditation, individual and shared enquiry, transparent and compassionate communication, we will be learning and practicing skills to embody the kind of world we wish to create and live in - to heal divisive and harmful separations within and between individuals, to bring awareness and love into spaces of difficulty, and to be part of a global healing movement contributing to ecosystemic change on a deep level.
Together we will learn how to develop, refine and apply embodied listening in our personal, professional and community lives.
The workshop will run as two half-day immersion sessions, with time for integration in between.
Beginning Again - an Introductory Retreat
This annual retreat, now in its 11th year, is an opportunity for anyone wishing to develop or refresh a regular meditation practice in a supportive retreat environment.
Together we will study and practice the meditation on breathing, one of the oldest and most effective practices known, that has been taught and practiced continuously since the time of the Buddha. The practice is founded on, and naturally supports, a commitment to living an ethical life. It is designed to lead us gradually and skilfully from wherever we are right now, to the full experience of healing and freedom made possible through meditation.
Earth Body, Human Body - Residential Retreat
“You need go no further than your own body to understand the Universe.”
- Namgyal Rinpoche
Weaving together movement, meditation, art and science, we will enter the studio/laboratory of our own human experience. We will study, contemplate, explore and come to understand the patterns that shape our own lives, and all of life.
Our human bodies are the doorway to our personal, ancestral, collective and planetary history, and the vehicle for liberation in this life. They show us the way to remembering and realising our fundamental wholeness. As we align our human body with the heart of the earth body, we become the medicine so sorely needed in our world. Join us as we embark on a restorative, experiential and illuminating journey into our interbeing nature, to bring healing, insight, liberation, and joy to our lives.
Walking with Presence - in The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary
Move Slowly. Connect. Breathe. Listen.
Come and be deeply nourished by the gifts of nature, quietude, mindful presence, and community.
This family-friendly morning of guided nature walking, contemplation, and gentle company offers time and space to receive the abundant support and insights that nature and our own inner wisdom have to offer.
We will quietly wend our way through the beautiful and restorative environment of the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary, pausing frequently to notice, to listen, and to appreciate our ever-changing inner and outer landscapes. We will savour morning tea in the forest, opening our senses, enlivening our awareness. Towards the end, we will have a chance to reflect with each other, and share any insights or gifts we may have received on our walk. The morning concludes with a community gathering and picnic in The Glade.

Before we learned to talk,
we listened……
In the womb, we were bathed in our mother’s heart beat, her digestion, her breath.
As babies and young children, long before we had words, we listened intently to the sounds around us, receiving every impression.
Our entire lives are deeply shaped by the soundscapes we inhabit - of nature, of culture, of language, of relationship.
In this weekend together we will explore the profound art of listening as an embodied experience. Through gentle movement, quiet contemplation and creative enquiry, we will endeavour to enliven and re-inhabit this fundamental life skill. We will share practices and develop our capacity to deeply listen, and respond - firstly to self, then to others, to planet, and to Life.
We will explore questions like -
How might we learn to listen with our whole bodies, our whole selves, not just our ears and pre-conceived ideas?
How often do we give ourselves and others the space to deeply listen, and be genuinely heard?
How open are we to the authentic experience of another?
Do we listen to the space between words, to the unspoken, to the whisperings of the heart?
What is our relationship to quietude, responding to the wordless pulse of life within us?
In a world full of noise, the opportunity for deep listening is trampled on all too easily.
Let’s touch into the spaces where listening takes place, understanding takes root, and true communication is born.
Registration is essential as space is limited.
